SHANGHAI, Nov 5 (SMM) – Jiangsu Shente Iron and Steel began to cut its capacity by 60% from Saturday November 3 due to China International Import Expo (CIIE) and the central government’s environmental probes in cities along the Yangtze River, SMM learned.
This is estimated to impact output of pig iron by 4,000 mt per day and output of steel products for construction by 5,000 mt per day. It remains unknown when the steelmaker could recover its output.
The week-long CIIE was kicked off in Shanghai on Monday November 5 while the environmental inspections by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment (MEE), starting from November 1, are expected to end on November 10.
