SHANGHAI, Oct 29 (SMM) – China's eastern province of Zhejiang launched a three-year Blue Skies initiative, according to a document by Zhejiang government on September 25.

This is in response to a nation-wide initiative to combat air pollution, first proposed by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment (MEE) in June this year.

The initiative prohibits the construction of new industrial parks in the province and emphasizes the rectification of existing industrial parks.

New capacities of steel, coking, aluminium, casting, cement and flat glass are banned; road transportation is not allowed for new, expanded projects that require delivery of bulk materials, according to the initiative.
