SHANGHAI, Oct 26 (SMM) – Monthly refining charges (RCs) for domestic blister copper stopped falling in October as greater supplies of copper scrap eased tight supplies of blister materials.
For October, domestic blister copper RCs were mostly offered at 1,600-1,700 yuan/mt delivered to plants, and charges for imported cargoes stood at $170-180/mt cif, SMM learned.
In 2019, however, expectations of import curbs on Category Seven copper scrap and limited increase of overseas blister copper supply will weigh on RCs. Offers for long-term contracts are likely to stand at $140-150/mt cif next year, market talk suggested.
