SHANGHAI, Oct 23 (SMM) – Zhongtian Iron & Steel (Zenith Steel) in Changzhou of Jiangsu province has become the first vendor in the world to provide continuous casting steel material to the leading German steel company and industrial equipment maker ThyssenKrupp, according to a report on Changzhou's official website, cz001.com.
The cooperation will support ThyssenKrupp's development of high-end steel bearings in wind turbines.
Zenith Steel started trial production in September, and has already dispatched the first batch of trial products to ThyssenKrupp.
In the continuous casting of steel, liquid steel is solidified into a semi-finished product for subsequent rolling. This is a cost-effective way to produce quality steel products, and is used commonly in producing wind steel bearings, SMM learned.
