Inland water transport across major ports in Shanghai will stagger work hours from Oct 29 to Nov 11

SHANGHAI, Oct 23 (SMM) – Inland water transport across major ports in Shanghai will follow staggered work hours from October 29 to November 11, in an effort to improve air quality before the first China International Import Expo (CIIE) is held in the city from November 5-10.

The controls will slow the delivery of steel products from north China to Shanghai, and some products will be diverted to the nearby Hangzhou market, SMM research found. The controls are likely to have minimum impact on the transport of steel products along the inner Yangtze River.
