SHANGHAI, Oct 22 (SMM) – In south-west Yunnan province, only 15 out of 173 smelting and rolling mills in the non-ferrous metals sector were assessed to be qualified producers, disclosed the central environmental inspection team on Monday October 22.
This was part of the team's feedback to provincial authorities in the first round of province-wide environmental reviews from June 5 to July 5.
The team also highlighted that Yunnan faced significant metal contamination issues, and admonished local authorities for their slow and inadequate response to pollution across the non-ferrous metal sector.
