SHANGHAI, Oct 16 (SMM) – China's consumer inflation in September, measured by the consumer price index (CPI), rose 2.5% compared to a year ago, marking the largest annual growth in seven months, showed the latest data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).

The CPI, a gauge of prices for goods and services, came in line with economists' expectations, and grew at an annual rate of 2.3% in August.

Producer inflation, however, cooled for the third straight month in September, with the producer price index (PPI) up 3.6% from a year ago. The PPI for September met forecasts but slowed from an increase of 4.1% in August.
