A floor price is not of much significance as the TCs soar, SMM believes

SHANGHAI, Sep 21 (SMM) – China Smelters Purchase Team (CSPT) decided not to set a floor price of imported copper concentrate treatment charges (TCs) for the fourth quarter, in its meeting held in Shanghai on Friday September 21.

A floor price is not of much significance as the TCs soar, SMM believes. Similar situation was seen in the third-quarter's meeting, where team members failed to agree on a Q3 copper concentrate TCs floor price.

The current spot market and long-term contract negotiations for next year were key topics in the meeting this time.

As of September 21, SMM assessed imported copper concentrate TCs standing firm at highs of $88-93/mt. Thin trades occurred in the market this week on sufficient stocks across smelters, SMM learned.
