Copper regained losses from the previous day with a rebound of 0.5%, and aluminium advanced 1%. Zinc added 1.8% after supply disruptions concerns sent it to the highest level in two months. Lead slipped 0.69%, tin shed 0.76% and nickel dipped 0.4%. The SHFE will keep its night trading session suspended until May 6.

Transactions of spot copper cathode were subdued in Shanghai on the morning of April 29, two days before the five-day Labour Day holiday, as pre-holiday risk aversion kept traders from aggressively purchasing and downstream consumers mostly finished stockpiling. This saw spot copper premiums dipping to almost 100 yuan/mt.  

SHFE nonferrous metals traded higher across the board on Thursday morning, recovering some losses in the previous day, as investors gained some confidence from stabilising crude oil markets.

Sellers of spot copper cathode in Shanghai showed continued willingness to firm up offers on the morning of Thursday April 16 even as transactions showed no signs of improvement after copper futures declined. 

SHFE nonferrous metals fell for the most part on Thursday morning, giving up gains from early this week, as record drops in the US retail sales and industrial production intensified investors fears about the damage caused by the coronavirus lockdowns.
