China to make first exports of hydrogen cell vehicles

SHANGHAI, Sep 13 (SMM) – Chinese automaker Foshan Feichi Automobile Manufacturing inked a memorandum of understanding to supply and deliver hydrogen cell buses, with Malaysia’s Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) on Monday September 10, Feichi’s parent Shanxi Meijin Energy said on Tuesday.

This will be China's first exports of hydrogen cell vehicles.

Three buses that will be delivered by March 2019, will be used in a pilot project in Sarawak to improve public transport, the statement added. Local firms in Sarawak are also investing in the construction of hydrogen production plants and refuelling stations.

Malaysia, the second largest oil and gas producer in South-east Asia and the third largest global exporter of liquefied natural gas (LNG), has substantial hydropower resources, which is enough to power  the new buses.

Foshan Feichi Automobile Manufacturing is the largest production base of hydrogen-fuel cell buses in south China. Shanxi Meijin Energy is one of the largest coke producers in China, and its principal products include coke, coal and natural gas.
