SHANGHAI, Sep 12 (SMM) – Yunnan Luoping Zinc & Electricity will resume zinc output from Wednesday September 12 after it received the green light to do so, from the municipal environmental protection bureau, the company said on Tuesday.
The Shenzhen-listed company suspended lead and zinc production from late June after it was reportedly involved in environmental pollution issues.
During the central government’s environmental reviews in June, inspectors found that Yunnan Luoping, in the city of Qujing in south-west China’s Yunnan province, failed to properly treat and dispose heavy metal residues. This waste contaminated the upper reaches of the Pearl River.
