Sales of passenger vehicles down 7.4% YoY in Aug

CPCA data showed that retail sales stood at 1.76 million units in Aug

SHANGHAI, Sep 10 (SMM) – Retail sales of passenger vehicle in China fell 7.4% from a year ago to stand at 1.76 million units in August, according to data from the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA).

The data also showed that a total of 716,527 units of sport utility vehicles (SUV) were sold in China last month, down 8.5% from the same period last year.

The passenger vehicle category includes sedans, SUV, multi-purpose vehicles (MPV) and mini-vans.

The China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) said on Monday that retail sales of sedans, multi-purpose vehicles (MPVs) and sport utility vehicles (SUVs) in China are estimated to be 1.03 million units in March, down 41% from the same month of 2019.
