Improved arrivals, poorer consumption grow aluminium inventories

As of Thursday Aug 30, stocks across eight consumption areas, including SHFE warrants, grew some 9,000 mt from last Thursday

SHANGHAI, Aug 30 (SMM) – This week, primary aluminium inventories across major consumption areas in China extended their gains from the weekend as arrivals rebounded and as consumption in Guangdong weakened, SMM research found.

As of Thursday August 30, stocks across eight consumption areas, including SHFE warrants, increased by some 9,000 mt from last Thursday and by some 8,000 mt from Monday to stand at 1.747 million mt, SMM data showed.

Details are as follows:

Wuxi, Jiangsu – 735,000 mt

Shanghai – 386,000 mt

Nanhai, Guangdong – 237,000 mt

Gongyi, Henan – 161,000 mt

Hangzhou, Zhejiang – 110,000 mt

Tianjin – 64,000 mt

Linyi, Shandong – 28,000 mt

Chongqing – 26,000 mt
