SHANGHAI, Aug 23 (SMM) – Some silicon producers in Inner Mongolia plan to resume operation in early September, SMM learned. All plants have suspended from the end of April, for environmental probes.
After probes ended in late June, just one plant recovered production as low silicon prices eroded production enthusiasm across plants.
More time is also required for plants in Inner Mongolia to resume production, as producers have to apply for discounts on electricity.
The #553 silicon without oxygen refinery mostly traded at 11,600-11,700 yuan/mt at Tianjin port on Thursday August 23.
