POSCO manganese purchasing price fall in Sept tender

Published: Aug 20, 2018 15:02
Purchasing price for its Sept tender settled at $2,509/mt cfr over the weekend, down some 11% from Aug

SHANGHAI, Aug 20 (SMM) – South Korean steelmaker POSCO settled the purchasing price of manganese for its September tender at $2,509/mt cfr over the weekend, SMM learned.

This is down some 11% from its August tender at $2,805/mt cfr.

Procurement volume for the September tender stood at 4,712 mt.

SMM assessments showed that manganese prices in major producing areas across China remained unchanged from Thursday, suggesting that the prices temporarily stemmed their tumbles. Last week’s brisk transactions helped to ease inventory pressure at producers.

SMM learned that traded prices on Monday stood close to 17,500 yuan/mt in cash, ex-factory.
