Iron ore deliveries from Chinese ports grow after typhoon

Daily average iron ore deliveries from 35 Chinese ports jumped over the week as demand in the east rebounded after Typhoon Ampil passed

SHANGHAI, Aug 3 (SMM) – Daily average iron ore deliveries from 35 Chinese ports jumped over the week as demand in the east rebounded after Typhoon Ampil passed, SMM research found.

Iron ore stocks across those ports grew 410,000 mt on a weekly basis, to 140.74 million mt as of Friday August 3. Daily average deliveries from ports increased by 172,000 mt week on week to 2.53 million mt, SMM data showed.

Daily average deliveries from Caofeidian port barely changed from a week ago while the figure for Jingtang port dipped due to production cuts in the north.

Stocks at Jingtang port continued to shrink as arrivals did not grow.
