Supplies tightened on Aug 1 as some producers across the region worked to fulfill orders

SHANGHAI, Aug 1 (SMM) – Supplies of low-grade oxygen-refined silicon in north China were tight on Wednesday August 1 as some producers across the region worked to fulfill orders, SMM learned.

Several producers even stopped accepting new orders, as their backlog of orders grew.

Short supplies buoyed offers of low-grade oxygen-refined silicon at Tianjin port. Offers for the 553# series grew to 12,300 yuan/mt.

However, buyers told SMM that they could not accept the high prices offered by producers and were unwilling to stockpile at the moment.
