Fengnan's local government released details of production cuts for steel mills across the district from Jul 20 to Aug 31

SHANGHAI, Jul 20 (SMM) – The local government of Fengnan in Tangshan released details of production cuts for steel mills across the district from July 20 to August 31, in response to the municipal government's announcement last week of a fresh round of production cuts.

At Guofeng Iron & Steel, production at blast furnaces will be reduced by 37.1%. Four furnaces of 450 m³ will also be suspended. Output of the plant's sintering machines will be cut by half, with potential suspensions for two machines of 132 m³ and 230 m³.

Sintering machines at steel mills across Ruifeng, Donghua, Kaiheng, Jing'an, and Yuefeng will cut output by at least 50%. Blast furnace output will be cut by at least 20%. At Hongye Furnace Burden plant, production of shaft furnaces will be limited by 50%.

Coking duration at three coke plants in the district will be required to be extended by six hours, on the top of rotating production schedules in the non-heating season. The sulphur dioxide emission concentration of coke ovens should be kept below 30 mg/m³.

Mills of industries other than steel and coke are required to follow rotating production schedules for the non-heating season, SMM learned.

Pig iron capacity in Fengnan stood at 22.82 million mt per year. Tangshan's annual pig iron capacity of 139.59 million mt accounted for 10.6% of China's output, SMM data showed.
