SHANGHAI, Jul 19 (SMM) – The government of Wu'an city in Hebei province undertook emergency measures on Thursday July 19 to counter heavy air pollution.

From midnight CST on Thursday July 19 to midnight on Sunday, all sintering machines and shaft furnaces at steel mills in the city are required to suspend. Coking duration at all local coke plants should be extended to no less than 48 hours. Delivery vehicles are banned from entering all industrial plants during the period.

At 8 am CST on Thursday, plants that failed to comply with the suspension requirement had their power supplies cut off, SMM learned.
