SHANGHAI, Jul 17 (SMM) – High-carbon ferrochrome production in Sichuan province will be affected as the central government's inspection team is scheduled to arrive in August for the second round of environmental reviews.
Local ferrochrome plants currently receive environmental checks from provincial governments, SMM learned. Production of some 36,400 mt of high-carbon ferrochrome in Sichuan last month accounted for 12% of national output, according to SMM data.
The first round of a month-long review mostly ended in late June. It covered ten provinces: Hebei, Henan, Inner Mongolia, Ningxia, Heilongjiang, Jiangsu, Jiangxi, Guangdong, Guangxi, and Yunnan.
This second round will review the progress of rectifications from the first round. It is likely that future rounds of checks will cover all provinces in China.
