SHANGHAI, Jul 2 (SMM) – Total costs for primary aluminium fell 3.6% from a month ago in June amid a sharp decline in alumina prices, SMM data showed.

As of the end of June, total costs for primary aluminium stood at 13,942 yuan/mt and averaged at 14,221 yuan/mt throughout the month.

Both term and spot prices of alumina weakened in June. Alumina costs for primary aluminium averaged at 5,505 yuan/mt in June, down 8.1% from May. Prebaked anode costs for primary aluminium fell 3.2%.
