Steel mills in Wuhu of Anhui province were to suspend or cut production for the whole week

SHANGHAI, Jun 26 (SMM) – Steel mills in Wuhu of Anhui province were required by the municipal government to suspend or cut production from June 25 to the end of this month.

This was because the city’s total discharge of air pollutants in the second quarter did not meet the standard, SMM learned.

Among the affected, Wuhu Xinxing Ductile Iron Pipes shut down one of its 1,280 m³ blast furnaces on Tuesday June 26, which is expected to affect daily production by 3,000 mt. Wuhu Fuxin Iron and Steel suspended all its production on June 26, affecting rebar output by 6,000 mt per day.

These mills are expected to resume normal production in early July.
