Some 34,000 mt of silicomanganese output per month is set to be affected as ferroalloy submerged arc furnaces are shut for rectification.

SHANGHAI, Jun 26 (SMM) – Some 34,000 mt of silicomanganese production per month is set to be affected in Louping county of Ningxia, as all ferroalloy submerged arc furnaces below 20,000 kVA were required to be shut for rectification as of Monday June 25.

This would account for 18% of the typical monthly output in Ningxia, SMM calculated. The rectification work is expected to be finished by July 5.

Nine plants producing 6517# silicomanganese, and six high-silicon silicomanganese producers were on the rectification list. These producers have a production capacity of 70,000 mt per month.

The rectification was according to an action plan issued by the local government on Monday to regulate substandard, contaminating industrial plants in the region.
