Tangshan steel mills to cut, suspend production

To counter heavy air pollution, Tangshan city will undertake emergency measures from 24:00 June 20 to 8:00 June 21

SHANGHAI, Jun 20 (SMM) – To counter heavy air pollution, the Tangshan government in Hebei province will undertake emergency measures from 24:00 June 20 to 8:00 June 21, SMM learned.

During this period, all sintering machines and shaft furnaces at steel mills in Lubei, Kaiping, Guzhi, Fengrun districts, Luan, Qianxi and Yutian counties, as well as Zunhua and Qian'an cities will be suspended.

Coke enterprises, casting plants and plants with independent lime kilns in the above areas will also suspend production. Lime kilns at steel mills will cut production by half.

Major power plants in Tangshan are required to comply with the standard for discharging particulate matter, and to reduce emissions of other pollutants to 60% of the acceptable level.

[Molybdenum-Iron Tender Information] SMM, March 24: It is reported that on March 23, a special steel group in east China announced the tender price for a new round of ferromolybdenum procurement, with the tax-inclusive plant-delivered acceptance-settled price at 277,500 yuan/mt, down 2,000 yuan/mt from the tender price on March 18.
