SHANGHAI, Jun 7 (SMM) – All nickel pig iron (NPI) plants in Inner Mongolia province, except for one in Tongliao city, suspended production as environmental inspectors from the central government settled in the region on Wednesday June 6, SMM learned.
The inspectors will stay for a month to review previous rectification works.
In May, Inner Mongolia produced NPI of 2,620 mt in metal content, and accounted for some 7% of the overall output in China. SMM expects a sharp decline in NPI output for June in Inner Mongolia.
