Refined zinc output down 4.8% in May on maintenance

As more domestic zinc smelters undertook maintenance in May, China's production of refined zinc in May declined 21,500 mt on the month to stand at 423,100 mt, SMM data showed.

SHANGHAI, Jun 6 (SMM) – As more domestic zinc smelters undertook maintenance in May, China's production of refined zinc in May declined 21,500 mt on the month to stand at 423,100 mt, SMM data showed. This was down over 4.8% from April, but up 0.81% from last year. 

As maintenance at some smelters is slated to end this month, SMM estimates that refined zinc production will pick up 4% from May to stand at 440,300 mt in June. The figure is likely to be down 4.8% from last year.
