SHANGHAI, May 31 (SMM) – China produced 76.7 million mt crude steel in April, up 4.8% year on year, 0.1 percentage point lower than the same period a year ago, according to data from the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC).
Production of steel products rose 8.5% year on year in April, about 8 percentage points higher than last year. Exports of steel products increased 830,000 mt from a month ago and stood at 6.48 million mt in April; while imports shrank 180,000 mt from a month ago and came in at 1.05 million mt.
Coke production declined 3.6% on the year, compared to 5.9% last year. Some 810,000 mt of coke were exported in April, down 130,000 mt from March.
Production of ferroalloy in April rose 4.1% year on year, up 2.7 percentage points from the same period last year.
