An estimated 7,000 mt of low-grade nickel pig iron (NPI) output will be affected across low-grade NPI plants in Linyi of Shandong province as plants shut for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation

SHANGHAI, May 24 (SMM) – An estimated 7,000 mt of low-grade nickel pig iron (NPI) output will be affected across low-grade NPI plants in Linyi of Shandong province. Plants have begun to shut ahead of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit held in Qingdao on June 9, SMM learned.

The impact is expected to last 20 days from Thursday May 24. The affected output, in metal content, will be over 100 mt. This accounts for 30% of low-grade NPI in the market.

Output of local high-grade NPI plants have been little affected by the summit so far, SMM learned.
