China's market for new-energy vehicles extends growth in Apr

China's market for new-energy vehicles (NEVs) continued its steady growth, as sales of NEVs and the number of charging stations surged in April

SHANGHAI, May 16 (SMM) – China's market for new-energy vehicles (NEVs) continued its steady growth, as sales of NEVs and the number of charging stations surged in April, according to data from various Chinese authorities.

China’s public electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at the end of April increased 62.5% on the year and came in at 262,058 units, showed data from the China Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Promotion Alliance (EVCIPA).

A total of 8,984 public EV charging stations were added in April. An average of 8,405 units were added every month over the past year.

In April, production and sales of NEVs in China also soared, up 117.7% and 138.4% year on year, according to data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM).

NEVs sales stood at 82,000 units in April, which brought January-April sales to 225,000 units, up 149.2% on the year. Production stood at 81,000 units in April.
