Secondary aluminium producers to see lower operating rates

SHANGHAI, Apr 24 (SMM) – The operating rates of China’s secondary aluminium producers are likely to be slightly lower in April from 61.1% in March, SMM expects.

This is mainly due to the lacklustre downstream demand from aluminium die-casting companies. The demand in April was also slower from the same period last year.

Buyers mostly purchased as needed and took a watch-and-wait stance on the fluctuation of aluminium prices recently. Most secondary aluminium producers reported lower or about flat sales, SMM learned.
