Prices of chemical grade silicon #421 have fallen some 200-300 yuan/mt from late March as some organosilicon plants began monthly procurement

SHANGHAI, Apr 20 (SMM) – Prices of chemical grade silicon #421 have fallen some 200-300 yuan/mt from late March as some organosilicon plants began monthly procurement, SMM learned. On Friday April 20, #421 silicon mostly traded at 15,100-15,200 yuan/mt at Huangpu port in Shanghai, and at 15,000-15,200 yuan/mt at Tianjin port.

Some market participants took a pessimistic stance on silicon prices though operating rates remained stable at downstream organosilicon and polysilicon plants.

Despite some pessimism in the market, SMM expects prices of chemical grade silicon to inch up if fundamentals remain steady.
