SHANGHAI, Apr 9 (SMM) – Only four silicon producers in Nujiang area and Baoshan city of Yunnan province have resumed operations as of Monday April 9, SMM learned.

Silicon plants typically choose to suspend production during the dry season from December to February due to high energy costs.

However, silicon plants in Yunnan's Dehong region and most plants in Sichuan province are estimated to come back to normal operations in early June when the wet season starts.

In Sichuan, only a few silicon producers in Liangshan area and Ya'an city plan to start operation in May.

Separately, the price of non-oxygen #553 silicon at Huangpu Port fell slightly to 12,500-12,600 yuan/mt on Monday, down 100 yuan/mt from last Wednesday. Traders and downstream customers were heard reluctant to increase their procurement even though supply is limited.
