SHANGHAI, Mar 8 (SMM) – China's nickel pig iron (NPI) production in February stood at 34,400 mt, down 6.9% month on month but up 6.1% from February 2017, SMM data showed.

The drop from January was mostly due to fewer days in February and maintenance work at aging NPI plants in Jiangsu, Shandong, Inner Mongolia and Fujian provinces.

Output for the first two months of this year amounted to 71,300 mt, up 6.9% from the same period last year.
