Supramax freight rates from Indonesia to China’s Lianyungang port have risen to $12-12.5/wmt this week, SMM learned.

SHANGHAI, Feb 27 (SMM) – Supramax freight rates from Indonesia to China’s Lianyungang port rose to $12-12.5/wmt this week, SMM learned. This caused the cif price of Indonesian 1.65% nickel ore to rise $1-2/wmt to $45-46/wmt today as Chinese nickel pig iron plants resume their procurement.

SMM forecasts a marginal softening in the Indonesian domestic nickel ore benchmark (HPM) for the first half of April 2026, with prices expected to decline by 1.37%. This downward adjustment is primarily driven by a $236.56/dmt drop in the HMA, which is projected to settle at $17,093/dmt.
