China’s key investment plans lend support to metals

China’s planned infrastructure investment and construction projects in 2018 are set to give firm support to metals, SMM learned.

SHANGHAI, Feb 26 (SMM) – China’s planned infrastructure investment and construction projects in 2018 are set to give firm support to metals, SMM learned.

Efforts put into transportation and water conservancy by local governments are set to spur growth in commodities consumption, especially of steel and cement, according to Jiang Xingchun, director of Soochow Futures Study. He added that demand for copper and nickel would also lead the performance of nonferrous metals.

Key investment details are as follows:

Hubei – 195.6 billion yuan in total, 85 billion yuan in transportation

Shaanxi – 500 billion yuan in total, 70 billion yuan in transportation

Fujian – 430.8 billion yuan in total, 85 billion yuan in transportation

Hebei – 800 billion yuan in total, 160 billion yuan in rail transportation, 345 billion yuan in roads, 40 billion yuan in ports, 35 billion yuan in civil aviation, 20 billion yuan in hub stations

Anhui – 70 billion yuan in transportation

Hunan – 196.05 billion yuan in total, 85.59 billion yuan in infrastructure construction, including railways, expressways and airports

Jiangxi – 590 billion yuan in total, 60 billion yuan in transportation

Sichuan – 571.72 billion yuan in total, over 130 billion yuan in transportation

Inner Mongolia – 70 billion yuan in roads

Liaoning – 130 billion yuan in waterway transportation

Jilin – 26.9 billion yuan in transportation

Zhejiang – 215 billion yuan in transportation

Shandong – 94.4 billion yuan in transportation

Henan – 88 billion yuan in transportation

Guangdong – 120 billion yuan in transportation

Guangxi – 100 billion yuan in transportation

Hainan – 180 billion yuan in roads and waterway transportation

Guizhou –165 billion yuan in roads and waterway transportation

Yunnan – 344 billion yuan in total, 140 billion yuan in expressways, 25 billion yuan in railways, 4 billion in civil aviation, and 60 billion yuan in waterway conservancy

Chongqing – 268.5 billion yuan from 2018 to 2020 in transportation

Tibet – 75 billion yuan in transportation

Gansu – 90 billion yuan in transportation

Qinghai – 45.6 billion yuan in transportation
