Flash: Copper spot premiums in Shanghai

Spot copper was trading at a discount of 20 yuan/mt to a premium of 20 yuan/mt in the Shanghai market on the morning of Tuesday February 6, SMM learned.

SHANGHAI, Feb 6 (SMM) – Spot copper was trading at a discount of 20 yuan/mt to a premium of 20 yuan/mt in the Shanghai market on the morning of Tuesday February 6, SMM learned. This compared with discounts of 70-40 yuan/mt seen the previous morning.

After copper prices pulled back, as substitution by secondary copper rod weakened and downstream cable and enamelled wire sectors conducted concentrated restocking, orders increased significantly and inventory drawdowns accelerated. The operating rate was expected to further rise to 70.46% next week.
