China sets new impurity standard on scrap metals import

For non-ferrous scrap, impurities including plastic scrap, rubber scrap, glass scrap and other powder-form scrap should weigh no more than 1% of the total weight.

SHANGHAI, Dec.15 (SMM)-China's ministry of environmental protection has set a new standard for all scrap metals imports. For non-ferrous scrap, impurities including plastic scrap, rubber scrap, glass scrap and other powder-form scrap should weigh no more than 1% of the total weight. Of the powder-form scrap including dust, sludge, crystalloid salt, metallic oxide, it should weigh less than 0.5% of the total imports.
