SHANGHAI, Dec 13 (SMM)-French mining company Alliance Miniere Responsable (AMR) has started bauxite production at its mine in Guinea with a production target of 6-10 million mtpy of aluminium ore, the company said on Tuesday.

AMR will keep an annual capacity of 8 million mt in 2018 but will ramp up to over 10 million mt in 2019. All output will be shipped to China, according to AMR ceo Romain Girbal.

Guinea controls about one-third of global bauxite reserves but its annual output has been below 20 million mt for many years due to unstable domestic political situation.
