Copper output starts at Katanga Mining's mine in DRC

Katanga Mining's Kamoto Copper has produced a first batch of copper cathode at its copper cobalt mine in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

SHANGHAI, Dec 13 (SMM)-Kamoto Copper has produced a first batch of copper cathode at its copper cobalt mine in the Democratic Republic of the Congo following a pilot run of its first production line at the newly-built ore leaching plant.

Copper output is expected to reach 300,000 mt by 2020, from 150,000 mt in 2018, whereas cobalt production is expected to hit 32,000-34,000 mt in 2020, from 11,000 mt next year, according to its parent company Katanga Mining Limited.
