Final Maitengwe Gold survey data received in Botswana
[SMM Gold Flash] One Bullion reports that it had received the final processed airborne geophysical dataset for its Maitengwe gold project in Botswana. The survey, flown in July, covered 11,654 line-kilometres across 58,075 hectares. At the separate Vumba project, the company reported that a third hole, VUDD019, had been drilled; it disclosed no assays from the current drilling programme. The Maitengwe data may help the company rank targets beneath extensive Kalahari sand cover, but it does not establish a gold discovery or resource. The final dataset and third-hole update are distinct from the earlier report of Vumba’s second completed hole. Laboratory results remain necessary to assess the significance of the Vumba drilling.

African mining: Power costs test local mineral-processing ambitions
[SMM Flash] African countries' plan to expand domestic mineral processing faces a shortage of affordable, reliable electricity. A Guinea government adviser at Africa Mining Week said the country would need 5,000–10,000 MW to support its industrialisation ambitions, compared with about 1,000 MW currently generated. Those figures describe a stated requirement, not capacity already built. Power is one of several conditions investors identified alongside secure mineral feedstock, stable policy, financing and buyers. The reporting helps explain why proposed refineries and smelters may take longer to develop than policy announcements suggest.

Ghana inaugurates three mining cooperatives in Nzema East
[SMM Gold Flash] Ghana’s Lands and Natural Resources Ministry reports that the Axim-Agona, Akango-Douale and Adelekezo mining cooperatives had been inaugurated in Nzema East under its Responsible Cooperative Mining and Skills Development Programme. The programme is intended to give small-scale miners a structured route to work within authorised concessions while protecting land and water. The ministry did not specify the ceremony’s date. The launch is a step in formalising mining in a gold-producing area, but it establishes no increase in gold output. The minister also described proposed district mining committees that would advise on licences; those measures remain proposals, not enacted rules. The cooperatives’ eventual production and compliance will need to be assessed separately.
