SHANGHAI, Dec.7 (SMM)-China’s secondary aluminium consumption is set to rise due to government policy support and rising auto sales, according to Resource Recycling News.
The secondary aluminium industry uses various aluminium scraps to produce aluminium alloy, which greatly reduces heat energy consumption and greenhouse gas emission. It also does no harm to land vegetation and realizes cyclic utilization of aluminium resource. This industry has important social benefit in resource saving, energy saving and emission reduction as well as environmental production.
Separately, alloy casted with secondary aluminium is widely used in vehicles, motorbikes, electric vehicles, machine manufacturing household appliance and building hardware. More specifically, motorbikes and electric vehicles account for 75% of the total downstream consumption of alloy casted with secondary aluminium. While China’s annual auto sales growth is set to reach 5% in 2017, further steady growth in the coming years is also expected.
Currently over 30% of global aluminium consumption comes from secondary aluminium. In European and North American countries, the figure is close to 70%. In China, the figure is only at 20% due to rapid growth of primary aluminium output.
