SMM Data: Supply Surplus of Nickel Ore to Intensify in 2018

The surplus may be intensify in Q1, 2018 to 2.09 million wet tonnes. SMM predicts nickel ore price will keep weak.

SHANGHAI, Nov.23 (SMM)－As per SMM research of overseas mines, domestic traders and NPI plants, as per purchase and stocking up demand of plants, high-grade nickel ore is estimated to get a supply surplus of 1.63 million wet tonnes in Q4, 2017. The surplus may be intensify in Q1, 2018 to 2.09 million wet tonnes. SMM predicts nickel ore price will keep weak.

The silicon metals prices skyrocketed in September and started to fall after the National Day holiday in October. The prices of oxygen-free 553# silicon basically lost all the gains in September, and the prices of high-grade silicon was relatively firm.
