SHANGHAI, Oct. 9 (SMM) – Processing fees of aluminum billet in Guangdong increased to 330-480 yuan per tonne today, the highest from July, due mainly to output cuts, SMM reports.

Operating rates at many domestic aluminum billet producers fell sharply because of environmental protection and less aluminum liquid supply. So, arriving shipments in Guangdong fell short of market expectations during China’s National Day holiday, with only 4,700 tonnes growth after the holiday.

Cargo holders are most optimistic toward demand in the near term, SMM understands.
