SHANGHAI, Oct. 9 (SMM) – Trading in China’s domestic silicon metal market was quiet on Monday, the first trading day after the 2017 Chinese National Day holiday, Shanghai Metals Market learns.
In the #553 oxygen-free silicon metal market, some producers both in south and north China slightly raised prices, with offers at ports up from 12,200-12,300 yuan to 12,500 yuan per tonne, and offers were heard up to 12,800 yuan per tonne (by acceptance).
Silicon metal plants were in no hurry in sales and held offers firm on the first trading day after the week-long holiday. Whether or not traded prices will follow up will depend on buyers’ response to the hike.
