China Coal Prices Surge to Record High despite Low-Demand Season

Coal prices in China reached record highs in both producing regions and at ports, despite the low-demand season.

SHANGHAI, Sept. 26 (SMM) – Coal prices in China reached record highs in both producing regions and at ports, despite the low-demand season.

Quotes for thermal coal at northern China ports reached 730 yuan per tonne on September 25. Vessels have to wait about one week for loading goods.

Coal prices are set to rise further in the near term considering current supplies.
