SHANGHAI, Sept. 20 (SMM) – Aluminum billet processing fees in Guangdong rose notably of late as downstream producers preferred billet over ingot for environmental concerns.

Processing fees jumped from 50 yuan/tonne to 200 yuan/tonne, SMM learns. Better operating rates at local downstream producers also contributed to the rise.

However, processing fees fell back to 100 yuan/tonne on Wednesday because of eagerness to sell and higher aluminum prices.
