SHANGHAI, Sept. 15 (SMM) – Overall operating rates at domestic lead-acid battery producers during the first seven months of 2017 fell on a yearly basis, according to SMM data.

The decline was mainly because that demand in 2017 was consumed in advance, SMM lead analyst said at the 2017 SMM Secondary Lead-acid Battery Summit held on September 14.
Distributors entered the market for speculative stockpiling in Q3 and Q4 2016, consuming demand for motive and ignition batteries in advance.

Moreover, orders at lead-acid battery producers were also dragged down by slower construction at infrastructure facilities in 1H 2017, also reducing their production enthusiasm.
