Aluminum Prices Soar in East China Market, SMM Reports

Aluminum prices in east China spot market gained as much as over 300 yuan/tonne on Tuesday from yesterday, leaving suppliers in a rush to sell.

SHANGHAI, Sept. 12 (SMM) – Aluminum prices in east China spot market gained as much as over 300 yuan/tonne on Tuesday from yesterday, leaving suppliers in a rush to sell.

Wider spot discounts lured traders in, while downstream producers turned away from higher prices.  

Mainstream traded prices were 16,170-16,210 yuan/tonne in Shanghai, discounts of 140-110 yuan/tonne over SHFE 1709 aluminum, versus 16,170-16,210 yuan/tonne in Wuxi and 16,180-16,200 yuan/tonne in Hangzhou.
