Zinc Inventories to Stay Low in China Major Three Markets Next Week, SMM Says

Total zinc inventories in Shanghai, Tianjin and Guangdong will remain low next week, SMM predicts.

SHANGHAI, Sept. 8 (SMM) – Total zinc inventories in Shanghai, Tianjin and Guangdong will remain low next week, SMM predicts.

Downstream buying interest was strong as zinc prices slumped in the latter half of this week. Despite inflows of imported zinc, outward shipments were also high. Together with maintenance at smelters around Tianjin and Guangdong, total inventories in the three regions will remain low, SMM explained.

Subsequently, bulls added positions, and the contract drifted higher, hitting a high of 24,495 yuan/mt at the end of the session. It finally closed up at 24,470 yuan/mt, up 175 yuan/mt, or 0.72%.
