Benchmark: Lithium Prices Rise in August on Supply-Side

Benchmark analyst Andrew Miller said in a report lithium prices rose in August due to supply reason.

SHANGHAI, Sept. 7 (SMM) – Benchmark analyst Andrew Miller said in a report lithium prices rose in August due to supply reason.

Raw material was in shortage for chemical converter. Battery output posted strong growth, while small producers which discharge pollutants were impacted, tightening lithium supplies.

Prices for lithium carbonate rose 9.6% on-month to $15,625 per tonne in August, and those for lithium hydroxide gained 2.1% on-month to $18,500 per tonne.
